Principal's Corner

Dear Parents and Community Members,
Welcome to the 2025–2026 School Year! My name is Michael Thompson and I am the very proud principal of Tara Elementary (a Cognia STEM School)!
As we continue to move forward in "Taking Tara To The Top!" ( our school motto) we are calling on our parents, families, and community members more than ever. Your support and involvement are vital to the success of our students. We encourage you to become a volunteer, partner with us on school events, and be a part of this exciting new chapter.
A few important reminders:
- Tara Elementary is now a certified STEM school within Clayton County; thus forthcoming, Tara Elementary (a Cognia STEM School)
- Tara Elementary (a Cognia STEM School) is a uniform school. Students are expected to wear uniforms daily, consisting of khaki, black, or dark navy blue bottoms and red, white, or blue tops.
- ATTENDANCE IS IMPORTANT! Students should arrive each day, on-time, and ready to learn. School opens: 6:45am – Instruction Starts Promptly: 7:45am. If your child misses a little instruction, they miss a lot.
- READING IS IMPORTANT and a major initiative this year. Our schoolwide reading goal is to ensure 100% of our students are reading at or above grade level. This is a critical priority, and we cannot achieve it without your partnership.
We also ask for your continued support in all of our student activities throughout the year. Whether it's cheering at basketball, football, or soccer games, attending our Science Fairs, supporting our Reading Bowl teams, or helping prepare students for the Challenge 24 Math competitions, your presence makes a difference.
Let’s work together to make this the Best Year Ever at Tara STEM Academy!
Respectfully,
Mr. Michael Thompson
Principal, Tara Elementary (a Cognia STEM School).
